| International company seeking new Purchasing Consultant for work with their US operations. Planning to hire before Labor Day. Work directly with their client companies to optimize and streamline their purchasing and procurement functions. - Visit client onsite. Interact with client`s employees involved in sourcing and buying functions. As part of a team, analyze the client`s sourcing and purchasing activities.
- Use Excel pivot table function and other tools to help in analysis and evaluation.
- Based on this interaction and analysis, recommend new best practices.
- Assist the client in deploying solutions to improve their purchasing using a proprietary methodology and technology tools. This includes training the client to use both.
Note that this is not a sales position. It is a consultant role to help with the purchasing function in other businesses. This position requires 95% overnight travel within the US. When travel is required, will be home on weekends. |
Our client`s priorities for this position include:- A relevant bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or related field.
- 2-4 years of recent experience in purchasing and procurement for a mid-size light industrial manufacturer. Might consider a recent college graduate in industrial engineering or operations management, even without that experience; but that`s a ``maybe`` at this point. Our client has clarified that this is a fairly entry-level role to complement their highly experienced team members; not interested in pursuing more senior level purchasing professionals (such as Purchasing Manager or CFO).
- Strong interpersonal skills for learning to negotiate, teaching others to negotiate, and relating to a wide range of individuals at each client site.
- ERP proficiency is a real plus.
- Demonstrated strengths in business writing, including emails, letters, and meeting summaries. Include a cover letter addressed to Elyse Williamson, the Frank`s consultant in charge of this search.
This position always involves 95% travel since the nature of the work is consulting with clients onsite.
